Who Says Cats are Stupid?

I've watched this video several times, and it never fails to amuse me. There's just not enough laughter in this world -- Thank God for Cats!

Mary, Mary, how does your garden grow?

Tomatoes, Swiss chard, broccoli, squash, onions, and strawberries are doing great. We've already eaten chard and strawberries from the garden. The beets and herbs have appeared, but leeks are a problem. I started on packet indoors, it began to grown and then died. So, I planted another packet outdoors, and so far there's nothing to see. I'm open to suggestions on growing leaks. That was the one new vegetable I had planned on learning to cook with this year. I'm looking forward to bottling pickled beets -- Zelphia would be so proud of me.

Scholarly update: I have been invited to present my Falstaff research paper at this summer's Wooden O Symposium at the Utah Shakespearean Festival in August. So, I can officially add "dramaturg" to my list of professional roles. I've also submitted a scholarly proposal to present on "Autism and the Performing Arts" at the Learning Disabilities Association's 2010 International Conference, to be held in Baltimore next February. I haven't been to the DC area since 1993, and Mark has never been. So this will be a great opportunity for us to travel together mid-winter.

Post script #1: Tina the Tumor seems to be all talk and no action. She hasn't grown or changed in the past 3 months, so no chemo or radiation at this point. . Next check in 6 months
(sigh of relief).

Post script #2: The $500 motor home is getting close to being ready for a road trip. She's our Pygmalian, a guttersnipe in serious need of rennovation, and Mark is Professor Higgins -- busy with a driving obsession to transform the old gal into "royalty." I, on the other hand, play Col. Pickering by standing around and mumbling things like, "Pip, pip, old chap. She's making progress!" Before and after photos would be nice. I'll see if I can do something about that, but don't hold your breath.

In Heaven's Eyes

Sandi Patti recorded a song many years ago, titled "In Heavens Eyes." Look at the face of this angel, my granddaughter, and read the words to the song:

In heaven's eyes there are no losers.
In heaven's eyes, there's no hopeless cause.
There's only people like you with feelings like me,
And we're amazed at the grace that we find --
In heaven's eyes.

I love you, Naomi.

Irises in Bloom

The irises blooming in my garden have made me delirius with Spring Fever. There is nothing more beautiful in nature than an iris in bloom. Don't you agree? I must invent a new dessert in honor of the iris. Stay tuned for more on that . . .

Spring Fever is REAL!

I have a debilitating case of Spring Fever. It's contagious, but not fatal. It's acute, but not permanent. And it's inconvenient, but not intolerable. Of course, I may lose my job if I sleep in too often. But I find the warm weather and outdoors so aluring these days, that I can hardly bring myself to turn out the lights at the end of the day. Then, of course, I can hardly get myself out of bed in the morning. (sigh) At least I get to spend time outdoors with my angels, Josie and Naomi.
